 International Women’s Day celebrations held at Raj Bhavan


Vijayawada, March 8 (prajaamaravati): First Lady of Andhra Pradesh, Lady Governor Smt. Suprava Harichandan participated as Chief Guest in the International Women’s Day celebrations organised by the women employees of Andhra Pradesh Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

Addressing the women employees on the occasion, Lady Governor Smt. Suprava Harichandan said that the International Women’s Day is celebrated to highlight the fact that women are equal to men in all respects and they play an important role in the development of the country. She said “all over the world, 31 percent of top corporate positions are held by women and 26 women are serving as either Heads of State or Government in 24 countries” and that the day is not far off, when gender equality in the highest positions would be a reality. “Women have a responsibility to safeguard their hard-earned rights and privileges, fought for and won over the decades”, said the Lady Governor.

Sri R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor, Sri A. Shyam Prasad, Joint Secretary, Sri Sanyasi Rao, Deputy Secretary and women employees Smt. Sujatha, Smt. Vidyullatha, Smt. Bhavani, Smt. Arunasri, Smt. Saritha, Dr. Asha Jyothi and others participated in the programme.
