NEP 2020 offers paradigm shift in higher education in the country – Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan
Vijayawada, March 4 (prajaamaravati): Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chancellor of Yogi Vemana University participated in the 9th and 10th convocations of the University in virtual mode from Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Delivering the convocation address, Governor Sri Harichandan said that the National Education Policy 2020 offered a paradigm shift in higher education in the country enabling Universities to devise curriculum and ensure accessibility to elective courses, value-added courses, resources for skill enrichment etc. which will bring about a greater change in the educational scenario and will have be greater impact in every walk of life.
The Chancellor said that in a span of fifteen years, the Yogi Vemana university has achieved NIRF ranking to be in top 150 institutions and was accorded the NAAC ‘B’ accreditation and stood at a better position in the gross enrolment ratio, in comparison with other newly established universities. He said that the country is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in commemoration of 75th year of Independence and unveiling of the hologram statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at the India Gate in New Delhi by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi, was a great honour to the great freedom fighter of the country.
The Chancellor congratulated Padmasri Dr. B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, Executive Chairman of Cyient Technologies, the Chief Guest of the Convocation for the Degree of Honoris Causa conferred on him by the University. The Chancellor also congratulated all the graduates, post-graduates, research scholars and gold medal awardees, for their accomplishment and complimented the Vice Chancellor Dr. M. Surya Kalavathi and the Faculty of the University, for their hard work in pursuit of the University’s development, quality and excellence.
Dr. Audimulapu Suresh, Minister for Education, who participated as Special Chief Guest at convocation said the State government has been giving top priority to higher education for its improvement both in quality and standards and said that the State government was the first to accept National Education Policy 2020 and started its implementation both at school education and higher education level.
Dr. S. Raghunatha Reddy and Dr. P. Chandra Obul Reddy of Yogi Vemana University felicitated the Governor with a memento. Sri R.P. Sisodia, Special Chief Secretary to Governor was also present on the occasion.
