Governor inaugurates Jagannath Rath Yatra


Vijayawada, July 8 (prajaamaravathi): Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan inaugurated Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra organized by ISCON Temple from Vajra grounds in Vijayawada on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Sri Harichandan said that Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra symbolizes spirituality and world peace and conveys the message of goodwill among all people in the society. The Governor said that Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra is renowned all over the world and nearly 400 Rath Yatras are held in more than 80 countries by celebrating the festival. He said Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra festival held in Puri is recognized as the world’s second largest congregation. The Rath Yatra procession commenced with Governor Sri Harchandan performing Rath puja and traditional ritual of sweeping the Rath Yatra passage with a broom. 

Sri A.K. Parida, Chairman of AP Pollution Control Board, Sriman Chakdradhari Das, President of ISCON temple, Sriman Venudhari Das and Sri Syamasundar Achyuta Das and other have participated in the function.
