Yoga Event Organized at All India Radio, Vijayawada as a Prelude to International Yoga Day.

As part of the countdown to the International Day of Yoga on June 21st, a vibrant and spirited Yoga event was organized in the premises of All India Radio, Vijayawada in the early hours of Friday. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 staff members representing various media units under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, including All India Radio, Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau (PIB), and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC).
The event was graced by Dr. G. Lakshmisha, IAS, Collector of NTR District, who attended as the Chief Guest and delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the transformative power of Yoga in achieving a balanced and healthy life.
Shri Rajinder Choudhury, Additional Director General, PIB Vijayawada, and Shri M. Someswara Rao, Deputy Director General, All India Radio Vijayawada, were present as Guests of Honor. They commended the initiative and lauded the active involvement of media personnel in embracing wellness through Yoga.
The session began at 6:00 AM with the performance of various Yoga Asanas, led by trained instructors. The participants showed great enthusiasm and energy, reflecting the growing awareness and commitment towards holistic well-being among government staff.
This programme is part of a series of events being held across the country in the lead-up to International Yoga Day, which this year will be celebrated with special significance. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will be attending the main event in Visakhapatnam on June 21, where more than 5 lakh participants are expected to take part in mass Yoga demonstrations, making it one of the largest such gatherings in the world.
These efforts reflect the Government of India’s continued commitment to making Yoga a people’s movement and promoting its benefits for physical, mental, and spiritual health.
