*Hon’ble Minister for Energy Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar directs Reliance to expedite CBG Green Energy Initiatives in AP*
• First Integrated CBG Hub in Prakasam district is progressing rapidly
• Energy Minister reviews the progress of Reliance’s green energy investments in the state
Vijayawada, July 24 (prajaamaravati): Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar directed the Reliance to co-ordinate with State Energy Department to ensure that the construction of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants being developed by Reliance in Andhra Pradesh continues to progress swiftly and efficiently. The Minister for Energy said that the establishment of CBG plants in the state would not only benefit local farmers but also create employment and livelihood opportunities for educated youth, encouraging people to voluntarily come forward to support the setting up of these plants.
A high-level meeting was held at AP Secretariat on Thursday to review the progress of Reliance’s green energy investments in the state chaired by Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar along with Speial Chief Secretary Energy Sri K. Vijayanand, JMD APTRANSCO Smt Kirthi Chekuri, MD NREDCAP Sri M Kamalakar babu and Senior offcials from Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) have participated in the review meeting.
The Minister instructed that the setting up of Reliance CBG plants should be expedited and informed that a review would be conducted once every 15 days. He stated that the plants at Vayumadugu and PC Palli are scheduled to be completed and commissioned by March 2026. In addition to Prakasam district, CBG plants are also being established in select constituencies of Sri Sathya Sai, Nandyal, and Anantapur districts. In the next phase, plants will be set up in Kandukur, Atmakur, and Udayagiri areas of Nellore district.
Reliance representatives expressed satisfaction with the full cooperation extended by the State Government. They said that the CBG plants would provide support to local farmers and create employment opportunities for local youth across the state would secure jobs through this initiative at different levels.
Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Sri Gottipati Ravi Kumar instructed the Energy Department and concerned line agencies to extend all necessary support to fast-track land allotments, resolve inter-departmental issues promptly, and coordinate closely with Reliance teams at the district level. He emphasized that this mega green energy initiative is not only aligned with the state’s environmental goals but also holds great potential for rural development, job creation, and industrial growth.
The Minister positively responded to Reliance on the support required from the State Government, including Appointment of nodal officers in identified districts, Accelerated land allotments and resolution of land-related issues, Facilitation of pipeline infrastructure for CBG offtake and Promotion of organic manure through the RBK network. He reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to support green energy projects that aligns with the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri Nara Chandra babu Naidu of achieving a sustainable and energy-secure future.
The Reliance team presented a comprehensive overview of their green energy roadmap and shared updates on the ongoing development of Integrated Energy Hubs in Andhra Pradesh. Reliance officials said that the organization has already invested over Rs. 1,000 crore in the last 18 months for the establishment of eight Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, including the commissioning of Phase-1 of the world’s largest CBG complex in Kakinada (67.5 Tonnes Per Day capacity).
