PIB Vijayawada Organises ‘Vartalap’ Media Workshop in Machilipatnam

      Krishna District Collector DK Balaji urged the media representatives to actively promote Central Government Schemes like PM Surya Ghar Yojana and Natural Farming that are beneficial for long term and more yielding. Highlighting the role of journalists and media in propagating various government schemes, he appealed them to ensure that eligible beneficiaries are informed and able to access them. 

DK Balaji addressed journalists from Krishna District in Vartalap programme, one-day media workshop, organised by Press Information Bureau (PIB), Vijayawada Regional Office, in Machilipatnam, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, here today. Vartalap programme aims at providing more understanding to the journalists about various central schemes and campaigns and key issues like fact checking and effective dissemination of information on the central schemes. He also released a Ministry of Information & Broadcasting publication titled, Seva, Sushasan, Garib Kalyan Ke 11 years of Government, highlighting the NDA Government achievements. 

Addressing the participants in Vartalap, “Journalists hold a key responsibility in communicating public policies to citizens and also contribute significantly to the formulation of new policies, and in course correction while implementing them” the Balaji said. Underlining the responsibilities of journalists, District Collector said highlighting the success stories in natural farming will encourage the fellow farmers in other parts of the society.

In his address at Vartalap, Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Chairman, Konakalla Narayana advised that Media to follow to the ethics and morals. He also asked them to cross the check the facts before presenting to the public. 

KV Ramakrishnaiah, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary, DLSA of Krishna District, briefed the journalists in Vartalap, on the legal aspects of press freedom, including reasonable restrictions, defamation, sedition, and contempt of court. He also asked the journalists to create awareness on free legal aid to the needy people, to resolve any legal matters free of cost. Similarly, DSR, Hindu College of Law principal VJS Rayalu explained about three new Criminal Laws introduced by the Government of India, to the Journalists in the workshop. 

Bandi Rama Krishna, Chairman, Krishna District Cooperative Market Society (DCMS), urged the media to take the Public People Private Partnership (P4) movement and Natural farming to the grassroots level. 


P. Ratnakar, Director of PIB, explained various media activities of the Ministry of I&B, for efficient dissemination of information related to the Union Government to the media at regional level. CBC Additional Director Ramesh Chandra made a presentation on the activities of Press Information Bureau and Press Registrar General of India. 

In the Vartalap, participant media representatives also spoke and appreciated the inclusive efforts made by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
