Gudivada, Sep 2 (prajaamaravati): State Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani) has said that the idea is to bring a medical college to Gudivada to provide better healthcare to future generations. Minister Kodali Nani inaugurated the meeting after lighting the Adama Oxygen Generation Plant at Area Government Hospital in Gudivada town of Krishna District on Thursday. On the occasion, Minister Kodali Nani said that the district hospital with a capacity of 500 beds is in Machilipatnam and it has been handed over to the Medical College. He asked CM Jaganmohan Reddy to set up a district hospital in Gudivada and he agreed. He said that 10 acres of land required for this should be acquired. He also said that he had acquired 30 acres of land with the idea that if there was 25 acres of land, a medical college would come in the future. He said the district hospital would come to Gudivada in the coming days. Area Hospital will continue to be a primary hospital. If there is a possibility of giving another medical college to the Parliament, we have completed the necessary activities in Gudivada. This will enable us to provide better medical services to future generations. He said only 11 medical colleges have been built in the state in the 74 years since independence. Jaganmohan Reddy has given permission to set up 16 medical colleges after taking over as chief minister. For this Rs. 7,500 crore is being spent to ensure that there is a medical college in every Parliament. Tenders have already been called for the construction of the respective medical colleges and work has also started. At midnight, 108 ambulances were made available in each mandal to provide treatment to those who could not go to hospitals in emergencies. About 1,200 ambulances have been procured to provide medical treatment. The 104 service has also been extended to all villages. We are also providing free monthly medicines to all the poor people suffering from chronic diseases in rural areas. YSR Arogyasree said that every medical expenses exceeding Rs.1, 000. These systems have been weakened by the previous government and CM Jaganmohan Reddy is repairing all of them and providing full medical care. He said only the late YSR and Jaganmohan Reddy were providing corporate medicine to the poor. He said it was the good fortune of the people of the state that such chief ministers were coming. Jaganmohan Reddy said he would not hesitate to spend as much as he can for the modernization of hospitals and schools. Minister Kodali Nani said the secretariat system was brought in to provide government schemes close to the home of the poor.
