Gudivada, Dec 31 (prajaamaravati): Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani), Minister of State for Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said that an Oxygen Generation Plant will be set up at Gudivada Area Government Hospital at a cost of Rs 2 crore. On Friday, Minister Kodali Nani was met by Hospital Advisory Committee Chairman MV Narayana Reddy at his residence in Gudivada town Rajendranagar. On the occasion, Minister Kodali Nani discussed with Narayana Reddy the setting up of Oxygen Generation Plant and the progress of construction work of Geriatric Ward. Later, Minister Kodali Nani said that CM Jaganmohan Reddy was holding regular review meetings on Covid control, prevention and vaccination. He said the covid positivity rate in the state has come down. CM Jaganmohan Reddy has directed to set up oxygen generation plants in government hospitals. As part of this, work is underway to set up an oxygen generation plant at Gudivada Area Government Hospital. He said the plant would be commissioned and made available as soon as the pipe connection works are completed. Also, A geriatric ward is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 70 lakh. Construction work is nearing completion, he said. SR Edifys Pvt. Ltd. started the construction work on January 30 last. To date, the Government Hospital has set up specialized medical care units for the elderly in and around Gudivada town. Many elderly people are constantly suffering from various health problems. Some are in dire straits, at least not to nearby hospitals. We are constructing a special geriatric ward at Gudivada Area Government Hospital with such people in mind. There will be 10 beds available in this ward. Elderly people over the age of 60 can be treated as an inpatient in the geriatric ward immediately in case of any medical problem. Discharge is said to take place only after full recovery. All the problems of old age can be overcome through this geriatric ward. He said that everyone has to go through all the stages of life and will do his best to overcome old age healthily. Doctors on the geriatric ward also provide advice and counseling on issues such as anxiety, physical difficulties, insomnia, decreased interest, thoughts of overweight, lack of concentration and loss of appetite seen in the elderly. Minister Kodali Nani said steps were being taken to launch the geriatric ward by the end of this month. The event was attended by NTR Stadium Committee Vice-Chairman Paleti Chanti, YSR Congress Party Gudivada Rural Mandal President Matta John Victor and others.
