Traditional medicine gaining popularity for lifestyle diseases: Governor Harichandan

Vijayawada, November 18 (praja amaravati): Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan has said that the traditional lines of treatment are becoming the first choice for lifestyle diseases like diabetes, stress, hypertension etc. as the alternative systems of medicine are providing holistic treatment to combat physical and mental illnesses. In a recorded video message delivered virtually at the “Ayurveda Parv”, the three-day national-level programme organized by Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Vijayawada in association with the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and Vinoba Seva Pratisthan, an NGO at Anam Kala Kendra in Rajamahendravaram, on Friday.

Governor Sri Harichandan said the ancient medicinal system has been proven to heal, cure, and prevent diseases from recurring in the body as it is known to internally cleanse the body for improved health so that the body can eliminate toxins. He said the affordability and absence of any side effects are helping these traditional lines of treatment in gaining popularity among many people as they promote healthy habits like sufficient amount of sleep, proper de-toxification practices, regular physical exercise, yoga, meditation, a balanced diet, and maintain a healthy social and personal life.

The biggest learning from the pandemic is that if we want a healthy society, we need to improve our health care system, so that it can handle the situation effectively, said the Governor. He further said that the cost of healthcare should be reduced and last-mile delivery of patient care in remote areas should be ensured and said that programmes like ‘Ayurveda Parv’ would be helpful in establishing Ayurveda as the main system of treatment among the masses by removing the misconception on traditional system of medicine.

Sri Margani Bharath, Rajamahendravaram MP, Sri Manoj Jena, Convener, Sri Balu Akkisa, Coordinator, Ayurveda Parv, Dr. Gunna Rajender Reddy, Chairman of Vinoba Development Society, Sri Hardayal Khuswaha, Secretary General of Gandhi Global Foundation, Dr. Sujata P.
