New Delhi/Eluru, March 27 (prajaamaravati): Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar has urged the Central Government to provide a permanent solution to the Kolleru issue, ensuring security and stability for the residents living there. During the Parliament session on Thursday, MP Putta Mahesh Kumar raised his voice in the Lok Sabha, representing the people of Kolleru.

The MP highlighted that over three lakh people have been living in the Kolleru region for decades. He stated that Kolleru Lake is a prominent tourist destination, attracting global visitors who come to witness the migratory birds. He emphasized the need for defining clear boundaries for the Kolleru region. The Supreme Court's recent directives regarding land demarcation have severely impacted the local farmers and residents, leading to the loss of nearly 21,000 acres of farmland for small and marginal farmers.

MP Mahesh Kumar brought this critical issue to the attention of the Central Government. He mentioned that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan are actively engaging with the Central Government to find a permanent resolution to the problem.

Despite frequent hearings in the Supreme Court, the personal grievances of the farmers and residents remain unaddressed. MP Mahesh Kumar expressed deep concern that the recurring Kolleru issue has threatened the livelihood of the locals, potentially forcing them into mass migration if a solution is not found.

He strongly urged the Central Government and the Union Minister for Forests and Environment to intervene and ensure a long-term resolution to the Kolleru residents' persistent problems.
