*Create Greater Awareness Among Farmers on the Use of Nano Fertilizers- Director of Agriculture, Dilli Rao, IAS
Vijayawada, 7th May 2025 (prajaamaravati):
A state-level technical workshop on "Nano Technology in Agriculture and Its Applications" was held at Minerva Hotel, Vijayawada, organized by IFFCO. Master Trainers from all 26 districts, agricultural scientists, and officers participated in this session.
Sri Dilli Rao, IAS, Director of Agriculture, attended as the chief guest and emphasized the need for better awareness among farmers regarding nano fertilizers like Nano Urea and Nano DAP, which are patented products manufactured by IFFCO. He highlighted that IFFCO has earned a top position globally in the cooperative sector.
He stated that as part of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi’s vision for “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” IFFCO has been leading efforts to make India self-reliant in fertilizer production. The use of nano fertilizers can significantly reduce the country’s dependence on imported raw materials like phosphate, which currently consumes large amounts of foreign exchange. He also noted that these fertilizers are eco-friendly and do not harm soil health.
As part of the Kharif 2025 season, demonstration plots have been set up—one in each of the 26 districts—where farmers can observe the effects of nano fertilizers on crop yields first-hand.
Dr. Tarunendu Singh, a scientist from IFFCO, presented insights on nano technology and research findings from the organization. Dr. Bharat Lakshmi, scientist from Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, shared updates on experiments being conducted using nano fertilizers on various crops.
The IFFCO State Marketing Manager Mr.Raju stated that farmers purchasing IFFCO fertilizers are provided free coverage under the *Sankat Haran Bima Yojana* (Risk Relief Insurance Scheme), and elaborated on its benefits.
Agricultural scientists including T. Prasad, Shailaja, Nagamadhuri, and C.H. Srinivas participated in the discussions and clarified various technical doubts. Additional Directors of Agriculture, Sridhar and Vinay Chand, along with district-level officers, were also present.
