Farmers, women, coolies made 600-day protest a success

'Amaravati Mahodyamam' unstoppable: Lokesh

Barbed wires, broken legs won't stop Capital stir

Farmers, women, coolies made 600-day protest a success

Police arrests, threats failed to stop agitationists

Women harassed and protesters' leg broken

AMARAVATI (prajaamaravati): TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Sunday lauded the 'Save Amaravati' agitators for making the 600-day protest rally from 'Nyayasthanam' to 'Devasthanam' a success despite the suppressive arrests and threats from the AP Police in all places in the Capital City region.

Mr. Lokesh described as 'courageous' the determined efforts being made by the Amaravati farmers, women, youth, TDP leaders and farm coolies without succumbing under the persecution of the ruling YSRCP leaders. The day was fast approaching when the Capital City protesters would bury the Jaganmohan Reddy Government in the same ditches dug up to destroy the wide roads developed as part of Amaravati project.

Mr. Nara Lokesh asked why the Chief Minister was shivering from head to toe upon the mention of the word Amaravati. The Capital City agitation came to stand as a 'Mahodyamam' (Great Agitation) by surviving and fighting back the oppressive tactics of the YSRCP rule. The police tried to suppress the agitators under their iron legs. They broke the legs of the dissenting voices. The protesters were bundled into the police vans and thrown into the cells of the police stations. The police behaved objectionably with the women protesters.

Decrying the 'unprecedented suppression', Mr. Lokesh said that the Amaravati protesters continued their peaceful demonstrations and their chant 'Jai Amaravati' echoed all over not just Capital City but the entire State. The agitationists began their rally from the courts, broke the police cordons and reached the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple. The police did not even allow the mediapersons in order to suppress news about the Amaravati agitation.

Mr. Lokesh advised the Jaganmohan Reddy regime to stop its destruction of the State going by how the people were starting to revolt against its plans. The Chief Minister's ulterior efforts from Delhi to Gully miserably failed to crush Amaravati. The people of the Capital City have been carrying out their glorious agitation without any fear or cowardice.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party leaders strongly objected to the manner in which the police imposed undue restrictions on the Amaravati rally. It was shameless on the part of the ruling party leaders to run a 'fake counter agitation' with the evil purpose of suppressing the Capital City farmers, women and coolies. The Amaravati people, who gave their lands for Capital construction, put all their trust in the 'Nyayasthanam' and 'Devasthanam' since CM Jagan Reddy had committed a 'historic breach of trust' that no other ruler had ever done through centuries.

The TDP leaders asserted that the Chief Minister had laid foundation stone for the certain downfall of his rule and also that of his family-ruled party by trying to destroy the Capital City farmers. The YSRCP should realise how the Amaravati people were ready to face any persecution to get their dream Capital. The protesters broke the barbed wires and went ahead with their 600-day rally.

The TDP leaders demanded that CM Jaganmohan Reddy should give an explanation why he took a U-turn on his own statement in the AP Assembly when he extended all his support to Amaravati Capital in his capacity as the opposition leader at that time. After coming to power, the same Jaganmohan Reddy started targetting and crushing the Amaravati Capital out of political vendetta. The CM's personal whims and vengeful attitude were destroying the State as a whole.

The TDP challenged the YSRCP Government to come face to face with the Capital City agitation in a democratic manner. The ruling party leaders were facing adverse comments even in the courts but still they were not changing. The fundamental rights of AP citizens were under attack under the chaotic Jagan Reddy regime.
