Lokesh urges Govt to pay salaries to frontline workers

Jagan advisors getting salaries but not Covid staff

26,325 Covid workers facing difficulties

Graceless Govt cheated Covid workers on grace marks

AMARAVATI: TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Wednesday demanded that the Jaganmohan Reddy Government immediately pay salaries to the frontline warriors who had rendered unmatched services to save the people's lives during the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.

Mr. Lokesh expressed concern that over 26,325 frontline workers and their families were facing needless difficulties because of non-payment of salaries for over 6 months. The YSRCP regime was disregarding the supreme services these contract and outsourcing staff rendered by risking their own lives in order to save the lives of others.

In a statement here, Mr. Nara Lokesh recalled that all these 26,325 staff joined service in response to the call from the Government for their emergency medical services. Now, the same Government was not paying arrears for over 6 months to them. These workers were now being harassed as the Government took them through private agencies. It was the duty of the Government now to do justice to these workers who were struggling a lot for their salaries.

Mr. Lokesh said that these workers rendered their services during the dangerous pandemic time without taking any leaves and without even celebrating festivals. At a time when even the Covid affected persons were not accepted by their families, these contract workers took risks and saved their lives. Apparently, this atrocious Government was also ignoring these frontline warriors after using their services during a time of grave need.

Mr. Nara Lokesh said that Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy was repeatedly saying that their Government was forced to bring loans in order to save the lives of the people. In that case, Buggana should explain why they were not paying salaries to the workers who saved people's lives. The Minister should disclose who had pocketed all those multi-crore loans and funds. It was shameless that the Jagan Reddy regime had betrayed and cheated even the Covid workers who worked hard and risked their lives in the hope of getting Government jobs later.

Mr. Lokesh said that the graceless CM promised to give grace marks to the Covid workers who were now not even getting their salaries. These frontline staff were working as ANMs, staff nurses, trainee nurses, anaesthesia technicians, non-medical research scientists, GDMOs, specialists and MNOs. They were rendering their services at Covid care and quarantine centres and to do tests.

Decrying the YSRCP's 'heartless-ness', Mr. Lokesh asked whether the Jagan Reddy regime had stopped paying salaries to even a single one of all those many Advisors. The private agencies removed many frontline workers after using them during the first wave. Now, these agencies were not paying timely salaries to even those who were working tirelessly in the fight against Corona. The salaries should be paid and job security should be ensured for them.
