Gudivada, Sep 8 (Prajaamaravati): State Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kodali Srivenkateswara Rao (Nani) said on Wednesday that work on the long-awaited Gudivada-Kankipadu main road in Gudivada was underway.  In Krishna District Gudivada, Minister Kodali Nani reviewed the CC and BT roads to be constructed at a cost of Rs 16.10 crore.  On the occasion, Minister Kodali Nani said that motorists traveling to Vijayawada via Gudivada town are facing many difficulties on the Gudivada-Kankipadu main road.  He said that due to crop failures on both sides of the road, the road margins were shrinking in a short period of time.  He said that as it was a single road, oncoming vehicles in the area where the pits were formed were prone to accidents.  He said that he had won the Gudivada constituency four times in a row as an MLA and since taking over as the minister, he had given the highest priority to the management of the Gudivada-Kankipadu road expansion and development works.  He, however, said that the road was wide in each area.  The canals on either side of the road are very deep.  With this, retaining walls also had to be constructed.  He said the focus was on building the road solidly.  KTR Women's College, Andhra Nalanda Municipal High School, GVR Kalyana Mandapam to the Mandapadu railway gate from the Pedakalva center in Gudivada town to the construction of a 10 meter CC road work has begun, he said.  So far, the road is only five and a half meters wide.  Also, a 10 meter long BT road will be constructed from the over bridge in the town to the fresh water reservoir in Betavolu.  From there, a 6.7 meter road to Pedaparupudi Mandal Bhushanagulla near Akkineni Nageswara Rao College will be constructed as a 10 meter road.  Retaining wall is also being constructed for   Canal on the left side of this road.  Retaining wall to Canal on the right from Bhushanagulla to Pedaparupudi bridge, the center of the mandal, will be developed by widening the five and a half meter road to 10 meters.  Currently the retaining wall construction work has reached bed level.  Gudivada - Kankipadu main road widening development works will be completed after the completion of the problems caused by traffic congestion will be removed.  Minister Kodali Nani said the construction of retaining walls would also strengthen the Gudivada-Kankipadu road.
