Lokesh slams CM over Basha family 'suicide attempt'
Govt responsible for any death in Minority family
Police behaving like Pulivendula faction members
Minority families targetted and victimised
AMARAVATI (prajaamaravati): TDP National General Secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh on Tuesday held the Jaganmohan Reddy Government responsible for the joint suicide attempt made by all the four family members of M. Akbar Basha at Chagalamarri in Kurnool district.
Mr. Lokesh asked the YSRCP regime to explain how many more Minorities' families would be driven to commit suicides for the sake of appeasing the Chief Minister and his partymen. It was nothing but a betrayal on the part of the ruling party to first promise to return the encroached land to Akbar Basha and then subject his family again to mindless harassment. Was it the duty of the police to kidnap when the Minority family attempted joint suicide?
In a statement here, Mr. Nara Lokesh said that it was Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy's relative Tirupal Reddy who has encroashed the land of the Basha family. When the Minority family asked for justice, the local CI threatened to encounter and kill them. Now, Basha, his wife and two daughters tried to end their lives. To suppress the details of this, the victims were kidnapped. The police were behaving like 'Pulivendula faction gang members'.
Mr. Lokesh said that the Basha family attempted suicide only after the land grabbers once again threatened them and refused to return the land. CM Jagan Reddy would be personally held responsible if any member of the Akbar family would be dead now. The Chief Minister should take personal responsibility to return the land to them. Stringent action should be taken against the CM's relatives who encorashed the land of the Minority family.
Decrying the incident, Mr. Lokesh demanded that the Government ensure good medical treatment to the four family members for their safe recovery. The Government and the police should stop causing further harassment and torture to Akbar Basha who has already suffered a lot of mental agony and anguish. If anything would happen to any family member, it would be considered a Government murder.
Meanwhile, the TDP leaders termed it as unfortunate that the Minority family really attemped suicide this time. When the Basha family took a selfie video and threatened to commit in the past, the Muslim associations and leaders made efforts to save the family members. At that time, the issue was settled after the Chief Minister had given orders for handing over the land to the Minority family. However, even the CM's orders were not fulfilled till now. Moreover, there was still harassment going on.
The TDP leader recalled how the police became responsible for the joint suicide of all the four members of the Abdul Salaam family in Nandyal in the past. The ruling YSRCP leaders were crossing all limits. The police were used to harass the Salaam family who tied down their two children to the railway track and then both husband and wife fell under a running train. In Dachepalli, illegal liquor cases were filed that eventually led to the suicide of one Aleesha.
